About the Book
The author brings together lessons from decades of performance as a hypnotist with academic insight (a BSc in Psychology), extensive knowledge of "The Literature", the history of the topic and a practical, sceptical approach, to create a unique insight into the realities of what actually occurs in demonstrations of "hypnosis". Much of this will be found surprising and surprisaingly frank.
Starting with aspects of the history of the topic, the book proceeds to a detailed overview of the "official" version of hypnotoic technique, including numerous previously used methods of "inducing hypnosis", before proceeding deeper into the social and group dynamics actually found in the close scrutiny of performances in the real world.
This book clarifies the authors consistently stated position that the art of hypnotism is a genuine method of influence communication whilst not entailing any of the often claimed "altered states" of "hypnosis". Whether you are a natural sceptic seeking eplanations or a firm believer in "hypnosis" who wants to understand the "orthodox" systems better, this book offers valuable insights.
The book is extensively illustrated, with numerous photographs from the authors own performances, as well as elegant hand drawn portraits of some of the principle persons from the history of hypnotism. These are given brief biographical asides.

About the Creator
Featured author, British hypnotist Alex T. Alex has been a stage hypnotist since 1993 and is also scientifically trained, being an MBPsS with an honours BSc degree in Psychology. He was an invited contributor to the 1994-1996 UK government review of the regulation of stage hypnotism which reflected his input on several points. In his time as a performer Alex has interacted as a hypnotist with around ten thousand participants and a vast number of audience members. This record of continuing activity makes him today one of the most experienced hypnotists alive. Alex has sought to educate the public in the realities of hypnotism, exposing and dismantling the myths of "hypnosis". In this his extensive, broad and deep knowledge of the scientific literature on hypnotism is of central importance as is his long experience as a performer.
