About the Book
meaning of visibility in the broadest sense. These images are my observations of the time-compressed
urban landscape that I experience. They depict the fleeting and subtle moments of the seemingly
unchanging cityscape. These visual details might appear mundane but they are enticingly visible to
me, therefore, I refer to them specifically as observational photography. They represent the
decompression of the fast pace socialization and industrialization of the urban culture. The
compositional structure of these images revolves around light, geometric shapes and social behaviour
- an aesthetic system that I develop to contextualize and interpret visibility both directly and
metaphorically.

About the Creator
My name is Ya-Wei. I am an artist living and working in Vancouver. My current creative focuses are photography, collage and drawing. As I evolve and develop my creative practice, I realize my core artistic interest is in the accessibility of subject matters, materials and audience. This realization leads me to explore the meaning of visibility through photographic images. These images document my observations of the urban landscape that I experience on a daily basis. They depict the subtle changes of the seemingly unchanging cityscape. These fleeting moments might be appear mundane and overlooked by most but they are enticingly visible to me. As I present these images I hope to make relevant visible connections with the viewers from their own experiences navigating through urban landscapes.
