About the Book
Welcome to my book of images taken over the last two decades recording the unique military history of Northern Ireland. Many of the sites are now no longer standing, having been demolished or redeveloped since I visited. The rapid destruction and deterioration of our military heritage can only serve to highlight the need for their continued documentation.
I don't intend this book to be a comprehensive military history, but an insight into the variety and longevity of military occupation. The images demonstrate the changing face of the threat and how military construction doctrine reflected this. There is no particular order or preference given to the photographs, other than they are grouped by theme and span all eras of military activity from the Napoleonic to the cessation of Operation Banner.
