About the Book
Going to Honolulu for a couple of days one hopes for the best; inspiration, insight, intelligence. A chance to experience something interesting.

On this trip, I found some performance art, live music, club dancing, moments of China, and even an American Indian Pow Wow. Hawaii is indeed a melting pot of cultures.

From being with the Chinatown art crowd for a First Friday gallery walk, then the Chinatown club scene at Next Door later that evening, to hanging out with television personalities Martin Yan of "Yan Can Cook" fame at a Splendor of China convention along with officials including Hawaii's Lieutenant Governor Duke Aiona, and later seeing Duane Chapman of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" at an Indian Pow Wow in the park across the street.

This group of photographs captures the moment of being there. Enjoy.

He learned to celebrate what the different cultures had to offer in the arts, food, and lifestyles. With his cameras Randy would document the cultural celebrations, showing the pride in what sets each culture apart, perserving a part of their unique heritage to share with others. Randy Magnus has work in several museums, including MOMA in New York City, the Oakland Museum, and the Achenbach Print Collection at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. He has had one-man shows in San Francisco, New York, and Amsterdam. .
