From 1954-1961, Canada's only, and later, her oldest raceboat, competed in various regattas and attempted to win the Harmsworth Trophy back from the United States. Her career was marked with both success (setting a world water speed record in 1957), and tragedy (flipping and killing driver Bob Hayward in 1961).

Formerly a high school history and law teacher for 29 years, in retirement, John Joseph Kelly has become the biographer of the famous Canadian raceboat, Miss Supertest, and of her drivers: Will Braden, and Bob Hayward. He has also written histories of the Ottawa Rough Riders 1960-1996, and the Detroit Lions (1958-2017).
