About the Book
In 1950, at the age of fifteen, William Alec Davies began work as an apprentice for British Railways at Abergavenny's Brecon Rd Shed. His career as a locomotive fitter was to cover the last decades of steam power in the UK and would ultimately take him to Kenya.
Throughout this period he took hundreds of photographs of men and steam locomotives at work. This book presents, in large format on high quality paper, eye catching images which should appeal to all and provided a little insight into the world that he saw.
