About the Book
The "Great Minnesota Get-Together" started life as a territorial fair in 1854, later to become the Minnesota State Fair in 1859. Canceled only six times in its history with the last time in 1946 due to the polio epidemic. The global pandemic of 2020 is the latest to leave its mark on this historic event.
The fair grounds are still open to view so I took the opportunity to see and capture this unique venue from a different perspective, without people. The usually packed streets, lined with food vendors, the sounds and smells of a hundred thousand people were replaced with wide open spaces and boarded up iconic buildings surrounded by an eerie silence.
