About the Book
When I began to realize how profoundly the great pandemic of 2020 was going to affect each and every one of us, I decided that I wanted to document this historic time. I photographed thirty families on their porch or in their front yard (from a very safe distance) in Willow Glen, our little corner of San Jose, California.
Through the photographs and quotes from the families, I hope that I have captured the essence of what we were experiencing. Despite worries, frustrations and fears, these families spoke of their hope, love and appreciation for each other and found ways to express joy and have fun together.
I did not ask for payment for the photo sessions, instead I asked each family to donate to an organization that was helping families during the pandemic. Profits from sales of the book will be donated to the EMQ Auxiliary.
