About the Book
FOMA’s first show of the Summer opens with Tom Appelquist’s large, striking yet subtle paintings.
Tom Appelquist is an architect now retired whose paintings originate from a love of
drawing. Using oil paint sticks and pencil he scribbles and infills in multiple layers on
both canvas and paper. The nature of the lines and the interaction of colors and layers give his paintings their character.
