After a failed attempt to fly him back to Britain he was sent to Paris to be taken care of by the Burgundy Line. He was taken care of by famous women of this ecape line and brought by train to Perpignan, France. He made three attempts to cross the Pyrenees in December and January and eventually arrived in Barcelona, Spain. He made it back to England and home to NJ for his 21st birthday.
