About the Book
Carl Frederick (Charles) Sanftleben and Helene Bertha Hahn came to the United States as children. They emigrated from different parts of Germany with their families, in 1881 (on 2 different vessels). Charles's family settled in Oak Park, Illinois; Helene's in Columbus, Wisconsin. Somehow they met, married, and came to settle on Woodbine Avenue in Oak Park, in 1896. The family left behind some legends but mostly, a lot of pictures.
