About the Book
Features 60 rare paintings, collected in the 1970s/early 1980s, representing an ancient Congolese tradition of abstract art. The original inhabitants of this Central African tropical forest, the Mbuti peoples are hunter-gatherers, famed for their rich polyphonic music and dance. Their painted barkcloths convey a sensory and visual perception of the patternings of this forest world.
