About the Book
While learning to be a “Travel Writer,” in later years, author, Leonard Lea Frazer, absorbed the routine, followed the “formula,” and got published. Deck-Boy offers the reader an inside look at travel adventure and the early work of Mr. Frazer before he took the time to study up on the literary techniques that today’s Travel Writers pursue. The “Early Years” are explored here in chronological order allowing us to follow the journey of the future“ Reluctant Travel Writer.”
Working as a Deck-boy on a Norwegian freighter Leonard was told that, “After your third trip, you’ll be hooked.” He did continue working and travelling for five trips; long enough to discover, “There’s a big world out there.” During his two years in the Norwegian Merchant Marine he acquired a taste for foreign cultures and has enjoyed retelling the tales of life at sea ever since.
