About the Book
Safari, the word means journey, traveling, touring, or voyaging (the verb for “to travel” in Swahili is kusafiri). The safari was an overland journey to observe and photograph wild animals in the Republic of Kenya.
Kenya is a country in East Africa with a coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses savannah, Lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, and mountain highlands. From Nairobi, the safari visited the Maasai Mara Reserve, known for its annual Wildebeest migrations, Amboseli National Park, which offers Tanzania’s 19,340-foot views Mt. Kilimanjaro. And onward to Tsavo East and West National Parks. The safari began in Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi and ended in Mombasa’s coastal city. This travel included photo opportunities for the “Big Five” African game animals: Lion, Leopard, Rhinoceros, Elephant, and famous Cape Buffalo.
