About the Creator
Joy Anjelica is a 24-year-old international slam champion, author, Morgan State University graduate, and DMV native. She previously served as a 2016 Baltimore City Youth Poetry Ambassador and placed in the top 3 for the Baltimore 2016 Grand Slam Championship. She has won 2 Silver medals in 2 consecutive years for her poetry from the DC chapter of the NAACP in their national ACT-SO competition. Joy has competed in semi-finals and performed on the final stage at the world-renowned Brave New Voices international Competition with both the Baltimore City Youth Poetry Team and Words Beats and Life Teams. Joy is formerly a poetry mentor and teaching artist for Dew More Baltimore, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing social justice poetry clubs to communities of Baltimore. Her debut poetry book "Growing Pains", was published in 2020.
