About the Book
A photographic portrait tells two stories -- the photographer's understanding of the subject, and the photographer's understanding of himself or herself. "Portraits" is a collection of some of the photographer's favorite portraits made over 46 years. Among the locales for these portraits are Hawaii, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Saipan, Virginia, Marshall Islands and American Samoa.

About the Creator
Floyd K. Takeuchi
Honolulu, Hawaii USA
A writer-photographer who specializes in the Pacific Islands, Hawaii and Japan. He is particularly interested in how traditional cultural values integrate in contemporary settings. His photography often focuses on finding beauty in daily life, whether it be on a remote Pacific Islands atoll or a side street in Tokyo. Floyd is a hybrid shooter, comfortable with digital capture, as well as using film cameras in his projects, too. His current film camera of choice is a mid-1950s Graflex Crown Graphic Special.
