Isolate a writer in his home for an extended period and, well, he'll write.

Jack Nimersheim, New York Times Best-Selling author of more than twenty books, wrote a lot, once he found himself self-isolating during the early days of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

Now these writings, originally a series of daily essays posted on Facebook, have been collected into yet another Nimersheim book, "Ruminations: How I survived the coronavirus and other miscellaneous musings from inside self-isolation."

Mr. Nimersheim manages to chronicle this otherwise unsettling time with humor and optimism, as he observes and analyzes how we responded to the unique challenges of a global pandemic. Sprinkled throughout are more personal essays about events from his life with which almost everyone can identify or, at the very least, be entertained by.

Combination memoir and social commentary, "Ruminations" is a compelling and provocative read that deserves to be on everyone's bookshelf.
