Gerard Miles Mckinnell was born in Cornwall, England, grew up there but now resides in Vietnam. He fell in love with Asia many years ago on a two-month trip to Indonesia, since then he has traveled through Thailand, Cambodia and most recently Vietnam. He spent six weeks riding a motorbike alone from Ha Noi to Saigon (HCMC) and felt at home there.
