About the Book
A catalogue of works exhibited in a themed portraiture exhibition at a London Gallery in July 2021.
15 artists reflect on current strange times through the medium of portraiture, showing portraits created during the pandemic when our own front doors defined the way we lived – both as a defence against a dangerous world and the means of escape from confinement.
Included: Covid survivors, those with whom we have been confined, those we have only seen on Zoom or Facetime, fellow out-of-work creatives – and inevitably, ourselves.
Notable sitters: Robin Hanbury-Tenison explorer and Covid-19 survivor and Paul Kissaun, ex-member of The Flying Pickets.
Exhibited at: Bermondsey Project Space 183 Bermondsey St, London SE1 3UW.
New element this year: Guest artist Melissa Scott-Miller from the Heatherley School of Fine Art.

Lots Road Group
London, England
The Lots Road Group of artists all met at The Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea. It was here that Michael Ayrton and Walter Sickert trained. Taught by a variety of tutors, including members of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the artists are all practicing figurative painters, based in and around London, and have come together to create a variety of themed exhibitions. Many of the group accept portrait commissions.
