About the Book
The word “monotype” simply describes a wide variety of processes that lead to the creation of one print (as opposed to most printmaking processes which are designed to create multiple copies). Monotypes lend themselves very well to experimentation, which is one of the reasons I enjoy them so much.
This book contains no descriptions or statements, because I want the viewer’s interaction to be entirely with the images, and I created every page through different monotype processes (which are not very conducive for large blocks of text). Volume 1 contains prints I created over the past two decades as a student, as a teacher, and as simply an artist.

I am a visual artist living in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in Central Oregon. After earning degrees in both Art and Art Education I moved to Chicago, where I taught in public high schools for several years and ran an art gallery. Upon returning to Oregon, I worked as a high school Arts and Graphics teacher for fourteen years. Now, I am a full-time artist focusing on painting, illustration, printmaking, and bookmaking.
