About the Book
I started my journey into photographing my surroundings thirty-three years ago, in the Seventh grade. A new Pentax 35mm camera, a home basement darkroom, and the wonders of developing your own film provided countless hours of amazement, entertainment, and purpose. People always had something to say about the images I created. That attention seemed to drive me to continue to create, eventually trying many types of photography... commercial, advertising, fashion, portraiture, and fine art.
My career as a cameraman in the motion picture industry blessed me with the opportunity to travel to many places. Along the way, I have taken many photographs, and like Frank in the mid-fifties, I too have discovered and captured many interesting people and places. This is a collection of my travels across this great country, and a nod to the man who had the same inspiration, fifty years ago. As I look back at the last three decades of my photography, and the images I have made, I hope to show the great diversity, beauty, people and places of America, as they have passed through my camera's lenses. The title reminds us that this could very well be a continuation of the original Robert Frank book, as in "The Americans, Number Two", but to me it says that we are all, have always been, and forever will be "Americans...Too".
This book is my personal homage to Robert Frank, for giving me the inspiration to create my own book in the shadow of his great work, fifty years later.
