About the Book
Ray Parer's own story of his flight to last place in the 1934 Macrobertson Centenary Air Race from London to Melbourne. He flew with Geoff Hemsworth in a Fairey Fox I. It was a typical relentless adventure that earned the 'Battling Parer' moniker, in a plane that Parer later described as cursed. The other, newer Fairey Fox piloted by Gilman and Baines crashed near Palazzo, San Gervasio in Italy that killed all aboard.
