Searching after God’s heart is a noble and lifelong journey
that we strive for but cannot fully achieve in this world.
12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but
then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is
partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely,
just as God now knows me completely.
13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—
and the greatest of these is love.
I Corinthians 13:12-13 NLT
“The greatest of these is love.” Why? Because it is a
primary characteristic of God himself.
16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is
love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
John 4:16
If God is love, that seems a good place to begin searching
for His heart. I Corinthians 13:7 is probably the most used
verse that defines love, and it is what has shaped the
searching laid out in this book:
Love never gives up (Patience)
Never loses faith (Faith)
Is always hopeful (Hope)
And endures through every circumstance (Love)
