About the Book
Revised and corrected edition: 2021. Who are we? Where did we come from? These questions are common among families whose forebears arrived in the United States as immigrants and who did their best to ignore and even purposely forget their past lives in the Old Country.
The Abramowicz and Milewski young men and women, who left their humble farming villages in Suchowola in Russian-occupied northeastern Poland in the early twentieth century, settled quickly in the United States, into jobs, marriages, and raising families. They worked hard and made sacrifices to ensure a better life for their children and future generations.
This book attempts to tell their stories based on documents that came to light during twenty years of research and collecting. Understanding something about who they were should enable their descendants to know more about themselves and hopefully appreciate the traits, talents, and spirit of their brave and determined peasant ancestors.
