About the Book
The Forest Floor is an ode to the flora and fauna that often go unnoticed just beneath our feet and off the beaten path in the forest. It highlights the return of spring to the lush temperate forests of the Northeast, through stills of spring ephemeral flowers, mosses, birds, bugs, and more organisms that call our forests home. The photographs consist of native, invasive, and introduced species living in Hunsberger Woods, and are all identified in an index located at the end of the book. Every image was taken in March and April of 2022, in a local small forest patch lovingly coined Hunsberger Woods for the family that chose to protect the property many decades ago. Now, it is a cherished open space appreciated by local residents, college students, runners, hikers, and birders alike.
