About the Book
Trees are known for their sturdy trunks and far reaching limbs, symbolizing strength, kinship and even life itself. Yet, even the hardiest trees are subject to the whims of humankind. As we remove trees that are seemingly in the way of human activity or to harvest wood, paper and oils, we don’t just take away life, and animal habitats, we exacerbate planet threatening global warming and climate change.
These photographic images focus on the faces of wooded life cut short. Raggedly severed cross sections or wood slices function as portraits, exposing the inner beauty, passage of time and environmental conditions of tree felled by humankind.
