About the Book
seeker of instances underlying the physical urban frameworks and
does so with a clear and far-sighted attitude.
We are in Berlin, but not the city we would expect from a simple,
trite and overstated recording of known “urban facts” consolidated
by more than thirty years of visual exploration.
Rather, we move through “recesses”, places that instil an immediate global perception of reassurance but which nevertheless harbour
some disquieting undertones, almost a potential outburst of unsettling “artefacts”.
These artefacts immediately evoke an image of “ruins”, not in an
archaeological sense, but in terms of anthropological and societal significance.
