While Hazel might be Arcane Academy's first elven student, the alumni list includes a host of other creatures: vampires, werewolves, therians, witches, wizards — as well as her mother Diana, who died under mysterious circumstances almost two decades ago, the night Hazel was born.

When a fellow student gets attacked off campus during the first week of classes, Hazel's desperate search to unearth long-buried secrets about her mother gets put on hold. She soon realizes the academy might be more dangerous and enigmatic than she realized.

Between schoolwork, making new friends, trying out for a sport she's never even heard of, and attempting to keep herself out of harm's way, Hazel begins to discover a world — and a part of herself — she never knew existed.
