About the Book
Balgo Hills is an indigenous community on the edge of the Tanami Desert in Western Australia. In 1996I the highly colourful art being produced by the community was attracting interest in Sydney and Melbourne and I was asked by the art coordinator, James Cowan, to spend two weeks there and to photograph the community and, in particular, the artists of the community. After I was given a skin name I extensively photographed the everyday life of the community and, in particular, I photographed the artists of the community including the incredible Eubena Nampitjin.
