About the Book
Engraving on glass most probably started at the time glass as an artificial material was invented. Throughout history new ways of the technique have been introduced and today there is no limit to this engaging means of expression. The book author gives an overview of the present state of glass engraving in Europe with focus on Glass Engraving Network authors, and in Estonia in particular. Historical background is also lightly touched. Mare Saare is professor emerita of the department of glass of the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn.

Mare Saare
Haapsalu, Estonia
Until 2018 head of the department of glass of the Estonian Academy of Arts, now Professor Emeritus, Mare has organized and participated in several glass exhibitions in Estonia and abroad. Her glass art is very sensitive, she touches on the basic values of life. Her dedication to photography allows her a deep insight into both the surrounding world and her own creations. Living in the small coast town Haapsalu, she spends her summers on the island of Saaremaa, a partner artist at Laugu Glassworks.
