About the Book
The motive for the project was old Carnival Posters. Carnival posters are flat, cheaply printed, colorful, and ephemeral. The carnival is about thrills, being bounced around , excitement and wandering in a strange and nostalgic environment. This is a dense and visually rich space. I set out to make some photographic prints that would suggest some of this. Most of these photos were made at the Ohio State Fair which is held not far from my home. I intended to make prints that had the look of old letterpress. This is a heavily stylized and romantic representation of the carnival. The images are self consciously decorative and though the palette is limited the colors are exaggerated
