Author Dr. Sonjia Shelly, a retired veterinarian, lives in California with her pet tortoise Moses, her golden retriever, and her 2 cats. She enjoys being in nature, writing poetry, bird watching, traveling, and watching Moses interact with her other pets.

Illustrator, Emma Laidig (the author's niece), drew these illustrations when she was only 11 years old! She enjoys drawing, biking, reading, and writing.
