About the Book
Barbara Hollweg, a Texan, has a lifelong love of animals and travel. A trip to East Africa when she was 60 years old served as a catalyst that ignited a passionate dedication to capture the images of the Africa that touched her soul. “I expected the African bush to be unique and full of exotic creatures. However, I never anticipated being overcome with emotion as I held a rescued chimpanzee in my arms or as I observed mountain gorillas playing and grooming one another in their rainforest habitat.” Gradually, as Barbara continued to travel through Africa, her fascination with the continent expanded to include the diverse tribes with their unique cultures and tribal ceremonies. This book is Barbara’s compilation of images that she has selected as her finest, both technologically and artistically. Referring to her images of Africa, she says, “In addition to capturing the beauty and spirit of the African people and animals, hopefully these photos convey the emotion stirring inside me as I have traveled along on this poignant journey.”
