About the Book
Photo book of street photography made between 2013 and 2023 in Dayton, Ohio, and nearby communities. Through a devastating Great Recession, mortgage meltdown, destructive tornado swarms, and waves of deaths from illegal drugs, Dayton and surrounds endure. As Dayton and Ohio rebuild, large swaths of ground remain in need of reinvestment. The city is peculiar in its own ways and history and quite peculiar in how it was hurt by misguided supply chain offshoring and de-industrialization. An era of "free trade" and "eds meds and feds" taxpayer subsidies masquerading as economic development is thankfully past. But it's worth examining what national delusions have brought us. This book is largely an exploration of that theme.
