About the Book
Word and Flesh is a collection of images inspired by the photographer's long fascination with Peter Greenaway’s film "The Pillow Book." The film explored the art of calligraphy and letters that were used to imprint hidden messages on naked skin. This photographic series was also a result of a creative collaboration between the photographer and the model, who inspired him to make a statement instead of just shooting words on a nude body.
"Word and Flesh" became a justaposition of Christian concepts of Latin prayers and the nude Christ-like figure. These are not meant to challenge or mock elements associated with the Catholic institution, but rather approriate images of what my impressions of the religious symbolisms are.
