About the Book
Our 22nd issue explores the expansiveness of Black lesbian identity.
The term lesbian, like the term queer, has exhaled in recent decades to welcome those defying gender and sexual norms. This striking collection of essays, poems, and articles from emerging Black and queer writers explores the attraction between genderqueer/transgender lesbians who don’t necessarily identify as women and the specific and unique experience of being Black lesbians—all while paying homage to the LGBTQ+ icons who have come before us.
Ebony Tomatoes’ 22nd issue hands the pen to our community, allowing us to redefine what lesbianism and queerness can truly mean and become.
