About the Book
Over 30 years of teaching English in four Oregon high schools, Donald Witten met his fair share of colorful students and staff. In this collection of stories, essays, and poems, Witten relates how one wooden "soapbox" became one of his greatest teaching tools, and how students found their voice and their courage from atop the box. Soapbox: Questions, Comments, Blasphemous Retorts recounts the way that hundreds and hundreds of students changed one man's life, and how he may have changed a few of theirs.

About the Creator
Donald Witten
Perrydale, OR, USA
I am a retired high school English teacher, and former head girls' basketball coach at a small school in southern Oregon. I have lived for 35 years on a 30-plus acre farm in Oregon's Willamette Valley with my wife Jody. My memoir/poetry collection in The Big Picture Journal: A Song of Wind and Wolves, is my first published work. When I am not writing, I enjoy gardening and small building projects on the farm. My writing goal now is to publish something - memoir, poetry, essay collection - every year. My hope is that you will find my writing entertaining, mildly humorous, thought-provoking, or otherwise plain old weird. Thanks for visiting my site!
