About the Book
This is the first volume of books featuring United States Air Force Wings that are still active from circa 1970 to present day. During this period, the United States Air Force has undergone much change. In particular, the decade of the 1990s was an especially dramatic and turbulent period. During this period, the Air Force has been substantially reduced in size and has undergone dramatic reorganisations at every level. These changes have been reflected in the Air Force's aircraft and the units that fly them. Many aircraft have been retired, units inactivated and bases closed. This book is intended to help enthusiasts correctly identify the units to which USAF aircraft have been assigned during these years of downsizing and restructuring. Since the 1960s, I personally have been collecting aircraft colour slides from this period to date. Sadly slide film has almost vanished from the market place now leaving us to collect digital images. Over the years my library has grown to such an extant that I can provide a good collection of images to illustrate this book.
