About the Book
God said, and he should know:
he made man so.”
- from the poem “Companions”
In The First Wedding, Madeleine Mills has collected her poems about the first Husband and Wife from her book Wedding Hymne and Poems, along with their beautiful nature photo illustrations. These poems reflect on how the reason for marriage remains the same today as it was when God first instituted it. This makes a lovely gift for a fiancee, bride, wife, or mother.
In “Adam's World” we see what life was like for the man who had everything ... but love. In “Companions” we see that no other love compares to the love between a Husband and Wife.
“Then Came Eve” shows how even a Gardener's humble life of daily chores becomes more beautiful and meaningful with the love of a Wife.
And in “Love Began in a Garden” we revisit the holy joy of that first wedding, and see it echoed down through the centuries in our own wedding ceremonies today.
(This book is an extract of previously published poems and their photos from Wedding Hymne and Poems.)
About the Creator
Madeleine Mills grew up in the redwood-forested mountains of northern California with a love of music, singing, dancing, poetry, novels, Christmas, and weddings. She started writing poetry as a child, but her publishing career began with a few articles in local and national newspapers. Many years later, she turned her hand to a new labor of love: designing her Wedding Hymne Series of beautifully illustrated Gift Books. Using nature photos, she illustrated the beautiful Bible texts defining love that are part of wedding services around the world (Love Never Fails and Perfect Love), and her wedding song lyrics she had written for the Vangelis tune “Hymne”. Besides writing song lyrics on the rare occasion, Madeleine has had poems published in both national and international magazines and journals, including Ideals and This England. She now lives on the beautiful Central Coast of California, amid gentle hills and scattered redwoods. Visit her website for more details about her books
