About the Book
With over 150 photos and insightful text, this book is a record of the author's journeys and work among Tibetan-speaking nomads in the Himalaya of Nepal and Bhutan and throughout the Tibetan Plateau region of what is now China. Covering a time span of over three decades and encompassing a vast geographical area, the photographs in the book are a record of a disappearing culture, a testimony to a vanishing way of life.

Bought my first camera, a Canon FTb, in 1974 when I went to Nepal for the first time. For most of the last 40 years I have been working with nomads in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, Mongolia, Nepal and Tibet. Although I still use a Canon F-1 manual camera, I increasingly find the photos on my iPhone to be quite satisfactory.
