About the Book
Referencing the work of artist On Kawara, 'SEPT.26,2009' is a "date book".
On the 13th of April 2010 Schmidt re-typed every picture caption as it was printed in the main section of the newspaper and the latter part of his book shows some of the images they were underlining, as well as additional ones from other sections.
All were photographed, against the sun, by Schmidt in one day, on the 6th of March 2010.
Placed approximately in the same position as they appeared on the original page and devoid of their visual counterpart, Schmidt allows the captions to turn into misplaced and absurd factual poetry.
Due to the strong morning sunshine penetrating the materiality of the (news)paper, every photograph taken by Schmidt produced a deliberately accidental collage.
Limited to 100 copies.
