About the Book
This book describes a trip taken by the authors with a group from North Carolina led by a Greek scholar to see the ancient sites of the people who began the Greco-Roman era, and initiated the process that gave us our laws, our art, our drama and many of our ideas. Included are 220 photos taken by the authors, maps, and descriptions of the places and objects seen and their significance to history and to Western thought. The places include Athens, Brauron, Sounion, Aegina, Eleusis, Delphi, Olympia, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Ephesus, Kos, Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete.
