About the Book
For this project I followed the river Usk from the source- in the Brecon Beacons National Park - to the Estuary, which is just after the city of Newport. I used the river as a lead trough the landscape for taking my photographs.
The further downriver the broader and faster the river becomes. I explored how the landscape is influenced by people and nature. And in which way this is changing during the leap of the river.
I am always looking for constructions and the exceptions in it. During this project I have looked for situations where people have influenced the landscape. Sometimes human traces are directly visible but sometimes they are more subtle. The further you come downriver the more civilised it gets around the river area. And even at places where a lot of people live is ‘nature’.
