About the Book
On the morning of May 7, four spunky kayakers set out from the Lincoln Outdoor Center in Freeport for a 3 day sea kayak workshop on Muscongus Bay. Bill, Scott and Pat eagerly anticipated a weekend of fun, exploration, and skills improvement under the guidance of Maine guide Gerry, who promised us that we would learn much about trip planning, leave-no-trace camping and cooking, risk assessment and safety, weather and tides, advanced paddle strokes, navigation, rescue techniques and how to survive in cold water. The weather radio predicted wind, rain and possible thunderstorms for the weekend. Luckily the latter never happened. We had a great time, learned a lot, feasted on excellent food -- would you believe freshly baked scones; smoked Copper River salmon; SPAM? - and survived such potential hazards as cold weather and a plethora of jokes.
