About the Book
5 Edinburgh Primary Schools participated in Drawing Book. Vivian French assisted, guided and inspired the pupils from the schools with the help of Edinburgh College of Art Illustration students to create 10 picture books.
Drawing Book has brought together children, students, writers and teachers in putting together these books, of which this is one. It has been a joyful and creative collaboration. We were welcomed into each of the five schools with every visit producing amazing results. We worked on stories in the classroom and later the students designed the pages and wrote some of their own. This process was not as straight-forward as it might first appear…
There were ten animals, all of whom had something to say. Why is the Rhinoceros so irritable? Just what makes a Panda a Panda? And who is Humpy Lumpy Grumpy anyway? Answers to these questions and much more besides may be found within the following pages.
