About the Book
Black and white photography taken south of Calgary and around Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump.
Standing in the prairies can make a person feel small, insignificant and isolated, yet one can sense they are still part of that vastness. In this work I tried to capture that sense of isolation amid so much space, the raw melancholy of emptiness that can never filled, which gives it its own immeasurable strength.

About the Creator
Lori Ono
Tokyo, Japan
I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and currently live in Tokyo. I graduated with degrees in English Lit and Education but always wrote and drew in my free time. My lecture notes had more sketches than writing. I enjoy teaching but always got itchy fingers when the students got to do something creative. I realized that creating my own work was what I really needed to do. I began my journey into photography in 2000.
