About the Book
Growing up I was desperate to escape the suburbs. The brick-and-tile conformity. The go-nowhere cul-de-sacs. Now I find myself drawn to them. Where once I felt constrained, I now feel calm. The sameness offers pleasing symmetry. The repetition feels reliable. And I see things I missed before. Small moments of self-expression. Blips on the residential radar. I have become a suburban observer. I see no life there for me. But I am in thrall to the lives of others.
