This book represents many years of looking, watching and then acting instinctively leading to a harmonious collusion of images. Ashley’s work has an innate ability to transport the viewer to another place in time. He creates complex moods and environments combining the confidence of singular vision with his knowledge of the photographic craft.



He has perfected his technique over decades with dedication and skill. Ashley is thoroughly immersed in his subject matter. A perfect example of this is his ‘Lake George’. He planned and honed the image over 15 years in his mind and not until the perfect time of year and ideal weather conditions did the work finally come together. He knew he had nailed it there and then. The planning paid off.



The result is a celebration of quiet and powerful views of nature sitting in contrast to the manmade and built environment. He has rearranged nature into patterns of his making without detracting from the natural order and beauty of the subject matter. The buxus leaves, and the multiple blue skies are poignant examples.
