About the Book
In the summer of 2010, Julie Püttgen spent two months studying traditional Tibetan thangka painting with Master Lobsang (Lochoe) Choegyal at Thangde Gatsal, a small school and working thangka studio near Dharamsala, India. This book attempts to document some of what she learned, in the hopes that it might be of use to her fellow painters, or to anyone interested in the methods and materials of Himalayan Buddhist painting.
