About the Book
In 2005 our family decided to purchase property in the Near North area of Ontario on the Pickerel River. The 1000 feet of shoreline and 16 acres is water-access-only and, despite this fact, we undertook the construction of a cottage entirely on our own including transporting all materials to the site.
This book documents the weekly progress from 2005 until 2010 when we declared victory... the cottage was completed!
Each year, from about the end of April until the end of October... essentially, when the property was accessible by boat... we proceeded with the "build" and documented the progress with photographs. This book represents a selection of pictures along with status summaries describing weekly achievements.
.... for us, it was a labour of love and provided a true sense of accomplishment... in other words, for "novice" builders the impossible turned out to be possible.
